1990 Chevrolet Caprice

2011 Jan 19, I designed this 1990 Chevrolet Caprice paper model.

2009 Summer Vacation, I designed a Caprice but that's ****.
I designed it as a rectangle box, but that was wrong! Caprice is not a rectangle box.

This time I destroyed the failure one and redesign!

You see that doors? This car is not a rectangle box.

And you can have the templates.

Base:

Police 9C1

Chrome parts. Use Paint Shop to paint it. I give you this to pretend you from paint some parts which shouldn't be painted.

Tyres:

And of Course, you can change the grille, headlights, tail-lights, to make it non-1990, Brougham, Even Impala.

Have a look at the model I made. White:

See what? The rear is not a rectangle, it's arch.

Watch the head and front bumper. It's not rectangle.

Thanks for sharing!
The new one looks a good improvement to the previous design.

And I like when designers provide several options to choose from.
There's more fun

I put the Battery and Switch at the bottom.

Different people has different ways to deal with Cop-lights. I made cop-lights with self-flashing LED. (You know, in Shenzhen, it's easy to buy.) You can also make a cop-lights that can not flash. But I think this paint must be with this kind of "2-column-red". No blue lights on it or aero lights or decklights, forget them!

SiBongJu, this is another great American police car model, excellent work! You did a fine job capturing the shape. Good work on the graphics, too! 你好厉害!

What is next? Have you considered an older American police car?

I know most young Chinese guys prefer *modern* cars, not much interested in older cars. But take a look, there are some very cool police cars from the past, here is nice group of photos.

Older cars usually have more complex body shapes than modern ones. But when I look at your Caprice and your Crown Victoria, I think your skills are ready for the challenge.

One of my favorites is the 1961 Plymouth Fury (example JPGs below). The New York City police dept used these.

I look forward to your next design, whatever it is! 加油!

This winter vacation my project:
1990 Chevrolet Caprice (Finished)
1991 Ford LTD Crown Victoria (the former one is fail ! I'm gonna redesign)
1989 Dodge Diplomat
2005 Chevrolet Impala
2010 Chevrolet Impala

I'm not gonna make 2011+ police cars just like 2011 Chevrolet Caprice, 2011 Dodge Charger, 2012 Ford Taurus Police Interceptor and 2012 Carbon Motor E7.

SiBongJu,
Are you also interested in police cars of other countries, for example Euporeans? There are lots of interesting models, especially if choosing between various years.
